Engine noise occurs due to leakage and wear on rotating parts. This noise often not only causes sound discomfort, but also affects the performance of the engine.

Check the alternator belt drive and, if possible, change it. The simplest option is to provide optimal belt tension. This will provide less noise, but to achieve the best result, you will have to install a roller shoe or single-row chain with ANZ. Such an assembly, in contrast to the classical one, allows you to reduce unpleasant sounds at times.
Step 2
Valves make up a third of the total engine noise, the main reason for which is the lack of thermal compensation for clearances. To eliminate this defect, install hydraulic lifters. However, this is not a guarantee that all noise will disappear.

The noise that appears from under the hood can also be caused by the carburetor, namely the air cleaner system. Install large air cleaners that are installed in the intake system of the engines. In addition to their main function of air purification, they will also muffle intake noise.
Step 4
Against the background of a running engine, the noise emitted by the cooling system is sometimes quite noticeable. To solve this problem, install electric fans that will rotate at a rate that does not exceed 3500 rpm, which is low enough. Do not forget to install the radiator supports in order to decouple the electric motor from the car body. If you do not do this, then after getting rid of one noise, another will appear.

Remember that all the measures taken to reduce engine noise will not bring the desired effect if you do not completely isolate the engine compartment. After all, the sound in an enclosed space begins to reflect from the walls and intensify, so the noise will only grow. Carefully monitor the condition of the car, while changing worn parts - all this will help reduce sound activity.
