Care should be taken when replacing the fuel tank as gasoline vapors are explosive. Although the operation itself is not difficult, it is best done at a dedicated service station. Usually it is carried out when there is no way to repair the gas tank.

Necessary

  • - key for 8;
  • - key for 10;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - hose.

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect the negative wire from the battery. Drain the gasoline completely from the fuel tank using the bulb hose.

Step 2

Remove the trim inside the luggage compartment that covers the fuel tank. To do this, first remove the rear casing by unscrewing five screws.

Step 3

Remove the two screws on the top of the fuel tank side liner. Having thrown back the luggage compartment canopy, unscrew its lower screws.

Step 4

Remove the right trunk lining.

Step 5

Disconnect the wires from the fuel level sensor by writing down their locations or marking them with colored tape.

Step 6

Take a screwdriver and loosen the clamps that secure the hoses to the fuel inlet pipe fitting.

Step 7

Unscrew the nut securing the gas tank clamp. Disconnect the left clamp, then lower it to the floor of the luggage compartment.

Step 8

Remove the end of the breather tube from the rubber lining of the filler neck, and then pull the breather tube out of the body holder.

Step 9

Remove the plug from the filler neck by opening the filler door from the outside. Then, using a flat screwdriver to gently pry on the edge of the rubber gasket, pull it over the neck and remove.

Step 10

Pull out the fuel tank. To do this, slightly raise it and, tilting it into the luggage compartment, remove it from the landing niche and place it on the trunk floor.

Step 11

Disconnect the nut from the fuel sensor flange, where the "mass" tip is screwed on, without pulling the gas tank out of the trunk.

Step 12

Unscrew the other five nuts that secure the fuel sensor. Pull it out carefully assembled with the fuel inlet pipe, as well as its gasket from the studs.

Step 13

Remove the vent pipe from the fuel tank fitting by unscrewing the clamp.

Step 14

Remove the gas tank from the trunk. Inspect carefully the sensor gaskets, the sensor itself, replace the defective ones.

Step 15

Install the new gas tank in the luggage compartment in reverse order.
