In the cold season, not every car left on the street starts easily. This is especially true for cars with automatic transmission. Their owners need to prepare more thoroughly for the onset of winter.
Necessary
- - fuel additive;
- - cords - "cigarette lighter";
- - ether for starting the engine in the cold season.
Instructions
Step 1
Be sure to change the engine oil before winter comes. Use only proven quality brands that are suitable for the type of vehicle you own. If the battery lasts more than three years, purchase a new one. Do the same if it junk.
Step 2
Use fuel additives. There are a great many of them. Choose those that improve the ignition characteristics of cold gasoline. However, at a temperature of minus thirty-two degrees, the fuel loses its properties. Therefore, even the addition of additives will not save on especially frosty nights. Put it in the garage for this period.
Step 3
Start the engine by turning on the dipped headlights for two to three minutes. This will allow the electrolytes in the battery to warm up, which will greatly increase the battery's capacity so that it can crank a cold engine.
Step 4
If all attempts to start the motor have failed, inject a small amount of ether into the suction manifold. It is a specially formulated fluid designed to facilitate engine starting during cold seasons. You can buy it at any auto parts store.
Step 5
As a last resort, if the engine refuses to start, use cigarette lighter cords. Ask the owner of a nearby car to help you and allow you to recharge the battery from his "iron horse". Fasten the "crocodiles" on the battery terminals of your and the neighboring car. Start the engines.
Step 6
If there are no neighbors in the parking lot nearby, you will have to take the battery to the house. Leave it in a warm place for two to three hours. This time should be sufficient to restore the power of the new battery.
