As a result of accidents, many cars become unusable every day. But at the same time, their back remains undamaged. It is from this part of the emergency vehicle that you can make a trailer that perfectly matches the design of the towing vehicle.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a body fragment cut to a length of about 2 m (starting from the rear panel) as the basis for the future trailer. In this case, the rear fenders, rear panel, trunk lid and all standard rear suspension must be preserved.
Step 2
Cut and chop off excess parts from the original fragment, including the upper panel, the partition of the passenger compartment and the trunk. To do this, first dismantle the rear fenders. Cut them to the line of the wheel axles and attach with pads on the inside of the wing.
Step 3
If the original fragment has a station wagon body, you can make a quick-release roof for using a trailer for transporting bulky goods. Fasten with wing nut bolts.
Step 4
Leave the rear suspension as standard. The rear axle can be replaced with a 60 mm pipe with welded hub flanges, spring support cups, arm brackets, rods and shock absorbers. In other words, transfer all the assemblies of the standard rear suspension to this pipe.
Step 5
The brake system is easier to transfer from an industrial trailer. This will prevent some problems when registering a trailer. The brakes can be left as standard.
Step 6
Connect the electrical equipment of the trailer to the car. In this case, provide a socket-connector to disconnect the trailer from the car. Carefully check all wires and connections, solder and insulate.
Step 7
Weld the drawbar from rectangular steel pipes. They are stronger than round pipes. Draw the drawbar in the form of an A-shaped lever and fasten it on the front side of the trailer to its frame or power elements. You can install a spare wheel on the drawbar.
Step 8
Use a standard, commercially available towing hitch that fits the towing hitch of the towing vehicle. Take care of a safety chain to ensure that the vehicle and trailer are not completely disengaged if the hitch assembly is disengaged. Equip the ball with a cap to protect it from dust and dirt. Make it from a tennis ball.
Step 9
At the front of the trailer, provide a foldable stand to keep the trailer level when disconnected from the vehicle. Equip the stand with a small wheel to make it easier to dock the trailer.
