If during the operation of the car there is a difficult start of the engine from the starter, then this is the first signal that it is time to check the battery.
Instructions
The electrolyte level in the battery must be between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks. The level is checked visually or with the help of a glass tube, the upper end of which, after immersion in the jar, is clamped with the thumb of the hand, and in this state is removed. The electrolyte in the tube should fill approximately 10 mm. In case of non-compliance with this requirement, only distilled water is topped up in the battery bank. A hydrometer or voltmeter is used to check the state of charge of the battery.
A fully charged storage battery should have an electrolyte density of 1.27 units, or show the voltage on a voltmeter 12.65 volts. One percent decrease in the density of the electrolyte in the battery indicates a six percent discharge rate. A decrease in the voltage at the battery terminals, by 0, 20 volts, indicates that the battery is 25% discharged.
