The braking system of the vehicle allows the vehicle to be slowed down or stopped. This system includes a braking mechanism and a drive. An important design element of the brake mechanism is disc brakes. The operation of the car's braking system depends on how correctly these mechanisms are adjusted.

It is necessary

  • - set of wrenches;
  • - lift.

Instructions

Step 1

Before proceeding with the adjustment of disc brakes, pay attention to the fact that the distribution of the vehicle axles is carried out by the brake force regulator, which is located on the bottom of the vehicle. Therefore, the inspection must be carried out from the inspection pit.

Step 2

Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the adjusting bolt 2-3 turns. After that, press the rear bumper several times with the weight of your body. Then go down into the inspection hole and carefully tighten the adjusting screw (you need to turn it until the end of the screw touches the bottom of the piston, and then turn it another two hundred and forty degrees).

Step 3

Check the working stroke of the piston, which should come out of the cylinder by 1, 7-2, 3 mm after pressing the pedal. If there is a discrepancy between the actual and standard indicators, it means that there are malfunctions in the brake force regulator that must be eliminated immediately.

Step 4

Adjust the manual brake at the same time as adjusting the disc brake. In addition, additional adjustment of the manual mechanism is needed after changing the rear pads, hand brake lever and other elements of the brake system.

Step 5

First of all, check if the hand brake lever is down. Then place your vehicle on a lift so that the rear wheels of the vehicle are free. Then unlock the handbrake cable adjustment locknut and loosen them as much as possible.

Step 6

Slowly pull the cables while tightening the adjusting nut until contact is made between the cable ends and the rear handbrake caliper levers. Remember: you cannot move the levers! And then check if they will move after switching the handbrake levers from the first latch tooth to the second.
