The front pads of the car are subjected to more stress when braking than the rear. For normal operation of the brake system, they must be replaced in time. The frequency of inspection of the front pads should be no more than 15,000 km. The pads must be replaced if the friction linings have worn down to 1.5 mm.

Necessary

  • - balloon wrench;
  • - jack;
  • - emphasis under the car;
  • - pliers;
  • - Phillips screwdriver;
  • - mounting blade;
  • - a hammer;
  • - metal brush.

Instructions

Step 1

Place wheel chocks under the rear wheels of the vehicle, pull out the parking brake lever. Loosen the front wheel bolts. Jack up the front of the vehicle, place the stops and remove the front wheels.

Step 2

Check the level of the brake fluid in the reservoir, if close to the maximum take the fluid with a syringe or rubber bulb. Do not screw the cap back to avoid liquid squeezing out through the cuffs.

Step 3

Clean brake mechanisms from dirt with a metal brush. Lubricate the guide pins with WD-40 liquid grease or any other penetrating grease.

Step 4

Use pliers to remove the split pins from the guide pins. Using a hammer, carefully knock out the pins from the brake cylinders using a screwdriver or a metal punch of a suitable diameter. Remove both retaining wire springs from the brake pads.

Step 5

Carefully insert the mounting paddle between the brake pad and brake disc. Press the piston into the brake cylinder. You can also use sliding pliers. Repeat the operation with the second block. In this case, it is necessary to monitor the fluid level in the brake reservoir, the excess fluid must be pumped out.

Step 6

Remove the brake pads. Clean the shoe seats from dirt. Do not use gasoline or other solvents to clean the brakes. Install new brake pads.

Step 7

Lubricate the guide pins with grease before installing. When installing the pins, insert the hold-down springs. Secure the guide pins with special spring keys.

Step 8

Reinstall the front wheels. Perform final tightening of the wheel bolts with the vehicle completely on the ground. To install the brakes in the operating position, press the brake pedal several times until it stops.

Step 9

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary. Be careful for the first 10-15 km of the journey until the pads rub against the brake discs, because brake performance will be reduced.
