IZH-Jupiter motorcycle engines can be easily boosted. The lack of ready-made boost kits is forcing owners of these motorcycles to look for ways to boost afterburners using available parts from other motorcycle models.
Instructions
Step 1
For IZH motorcycles with 175 cc cylinders, tuned resonators of ZID motorcycles are perfect. They improve traction in the mid-range. If you want to add traction at high speeds, resonators from the SMB-2 walk-behind tractor are recommended.
Step 2
Install the carburetor K-65I from IZH-Planeta-5 with a 32-mm diffuser. Add two carburettors for even more power. If you want to make traction even at speeds up to 100 km / h, use K-65V carburetors from the Voskhod motorcycle. Supply nozzles, main fuel jets and needles from K-65D. Do not change the fuel level in the float chamber. Two K-65D carburetors will not greatly increase the top speed, but will significantly increase the acceleration.
Step 3
Imported zero resistance can be used as an air filter. A self-made filter will be more affordable. To do this, take the filter element (foam rubber) from Voskhod and purchase a special oil for its impregnation.
Step 4
To fine-tune the cylinder-piston group, make sure that the pistons differ in mass as little as possible, and their windows coincide with the cylinder blow-out windows and do not overlap them. Chamfer the piston ring edges and piston pin ends. Remove the ends of the retaining rings so that they do not interfere with the piston fingers. Take the crankshaft from the liquid-cooled Jupiter engine. Unreliable aluminum cages are replaced with homemade bronze or bulk needle cages. The cylinder heads are tightened by trimming their ends. This will increase the compression ratio to 10.2: 1. Its further increase will negatively affect the resource. Copper gaskets from Jupiter-5 are installed under the heads. Adjust the ignition timing (optimal 2.0 mm to TDC), install imported plugs similar to A-23 (B), A-26.
Step 5
All the operations performed raise the power of the Jupiter to 35-37 hp at 7100 rpm. The maximum speed with this power should be 145-150 km / h. By installing liquid cooling, multi-channel blowdown, petal valves, displacer rings in the crank chambers, contactless ignition and a resonator at the intake, the power can be increased to 40-45 HP at 8500-9000 rpm.
