Melamine-alkyd enamel is the most common enamel used in or near the factory. Excellent gloss and variety of colors are the hallmarks of melamine alkyd enamel.
Melaminoalkide enamel is a suspension of pigments in solutions of alkyd and melamine-formaldehyde resins with the addition of a desiccant and organic solvents. The use of this type of enamel in garage conditions is hampered by the fact that it requires drying in a special oven: the enamel begins to dry at a temperature of 120 ° C.
If you want to use this particular enamel, familiarize yourself with its properties when drying, the need to use a hardener to make sure that you have purchased exactly what you need. If you use a hardener, then be aware that it is he who is subsequently responsible for the strength of the coating and reduces the drying time, however, when using a hardener, it is required to paint in several layers.
The advantages of melamine alkyd enamel include excellent surface gloss, weather and petrol resistance of the coating, high reliability during operation and, of course, a huge richness of colors, including the addition of gloss with a different effect (mother of pearl, metallic or without it - 100% matte enamel).
The disadvantages include the complexity of application (mandatory three-layer), long drying time, which is impossible under normal conditions. Melamine alkyd enamel is very widely used in factory conditions, since it is not difficult to create special working conditions in specialized production. Also remember that you cannot polish the car immediately after drying, you will have to wait a little.
