An unpleasant situation, when the hood is closed and cannot be opened, sooner or later overtakes every motorist. Volvo car owners, like other car enthusiasts, can open the hood on their own if they wish.
Necessary
- - pocket flashlight;
- - two long screwdrivers.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the turn signal first. Since it rests on a spring, gently pick up this spring with a screwdriver and remove it from the holder. This procedure will not in any way affect the installation and maintenance of your headlights.
Step 2
After removing the spring, select two comfortable screwdrivers of maximum length for further work. To get a better view of the lock tongue, shine a flashlight into the hole for the turn signal. Then insert the screwdriver so that it rests against the locking tab. Correct directional trajectory is essential for the successful opening of the bonnet.
Step 3
As soon as you feel that the screwdriver has reached its goal, start pushing on the tongue. Note that the left lock usually opens slightly faster than the right, although this is dependent on the cable adjustment. Do this until both locks open.
Step 4
If, nevertheless, you did not manage to open the hood in this way, then try to raise it in front of the car (drive the front wheels onto the overpass) and unscrew the two screws securing the lower cover to the steering column. After removing the shroud, remove the cable sheath from the bracket and disconnect the cable from the hood release lever. Next, carefully remove the cable and remove it from all side mounts. Now comes the turn of the hood lock, which you must remove by unscrewing its mounting bolts.
Step 5
After removing the lock, disconnect the cable and its sheath from the hood latches. Then you can remove the cable without hindrance. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal.
