Instructions
Step 1
A crack in the bumper of a car can either be sealed or welded. The easiest way is to use the first option, since working with a welding machine requires certain knowledge and special skills.
Step 2
A cracked bumper is glued with a universal adhesive. Such glue must necessarily have the ability to interact with a wide variety of plastic types. In addition, to repair the bumper, you will need high-quality finishing materials: putty, paint, varnish. All of these materials must have high adhesion to plastic.
Step 3
Before proceeding with gluing a cracked bumper, the area to be restored must be thoroughly sanded, cleaned of dust and dirt, and then degreased. Apply a layer of adhesion activator primer to the sanded surface. When this layer dries, glue and a glass cloth backing are placed on top of it. For gluing the bumper, it is preferable to use a non-woven fabric that has large cells.
Step 4
The patch stuck on the split in the car bumper should not be touched until it has completely hardened. When the patch is hard, all holes on the outside must be filled with all-purpose adhesive. The surplus of the latter must be removed or carefully leveled over the surface.
Step 5
After the adhesive has completely cured, the entire surface of the bumper is cleaned with sanding paper. Irregularities should be smoothed out using putty and sanding.
Step 6
The final step in repairing the bumper will be painting it. If it is produced with body-colored enamel, then an additional layer of adhesion activator primer should be applied to the bumper.
