Change of the oil seal of the shaft of a choice of transfers
When replacing the oil seal, it is possible to repair the gear shift drive in parallel. First, purchase all the accessories and necessary tools. You will need screwdrivers, keys, a small hammer, long screws. Remove dirt from the bolts and the perimeter mechanism.
Procedure for replacing the oil seal:
- Park the machine on a level surface, place wheel chocks under the wheels, set the speed to neutral.
- Drain the oil from the gearbox, disconnect the spring clip, remove the axle. Separate the parts of the fork;
- Unscrew the bolts of the structure cover with a socket wrench;
- Gradually pull the cover towards you. This will take some effort, especially with air conditioning and power steering. It is allowed to shake the lid a little for this;
- Squeeze out the pin with a metal rod and remove it;
- Hook the oil seal with a self-tapping screw, pull it out;
- Assemble the new parts, insert the oil seal, install everything in the reverse order. In this case, the mechanisms must be docked properly.
Why do I need a new stem when replacing the stuffing box?
After removing the old parts, assess their condition. Are the consequences of exploitation or loss of integrity noticeable? If you notice damage, replace all parts with new ones. With a worn rod, flaws in the operation of the drive of the gear shifting mechanism will appear. If you leave the old stem, the oil will start to leak again soon.
