At night, the issue of road lighting is very important, especially in Russia, where they are far from ideal. Xenon headlights do their job well, but they are not immune to breakage. If the xenon ignition unit fails, you should first try to eliminate the breakdown yourself, and only then, if it does not work out, buy new parts.

Step 1

There are several reasons for the breakdown of xenon ignition, here they are:

1) There is no tightness in the unit itself, dust or water can get inside. This can be determined by opening the device. There is a malfunction in the flashing of the headlight. Or it doesn't light up at all.

2) Rust, due to which the adhesions of some elements of the block may come off. The parts themselves may fall out of the solder due to rust.

3) Problems with transistors.

4) "Punching" the windings of the multiplier or transformer.

5) There is no control signal from the controller.

Step 2

It is better to entrust the diagnosis of a breakdown and repair of the ignition unit to professionals, although you can do it yourself. Smell to smell the burning smell of a specific item. Take out the oscilloscope - it will be very useful to you in determining which element of the block is out of order.

Step 3

Before proceeding with major operations, try flushing the entire unit with alcohol. Everything will work again if moisture or rust was to blame. If this does not help, disconnect the sealant from the back of the board and solder the leaking solders. Connect the lamp to the unit, wind it up. Switch it on only when connected to the lamp, on a non-conductive surface, and at a safe distance from flammable objects and materials. Do not touch the unit with your hands, let the unit cool down when it is turned off.

Step 4

If the above steps do not help, open all covers and detach the sealant. Call all transistors with a tester, if you find a breakdown, buy a new field device (for example, 4N60), solder it. If there is no breakdown, look for the reason further.

Step 5

Ring the burned-out resistor - it may have remained intact. If not, then change it to a new one, 5 watts. Solder the soldering joints of the sealant, where the flux is inactive, wash off the remaining flux.

Step 6

Start the ignition block. If your repair was successful, then the headlights will start shining as before. If this is not successful, locate the damaged resistor. Having found it, evaporate it, and then turn on the ignition unit without it for a while. If it works, consider that the problem is solved. If not, you will have to contact a car service.

Step 7

If the repair was successful and the unit works as it should, seal it. Fill the board with paraffin. It is better not to use silicone sealants.
