If you sold a car that you owned for more than three years, you can skip reading further: starting in 2011, the rights to property tax deduction are automatically recognized for you. This means that you do not have to file a return. But if you have owned it for a shorter time, you will have to issue the necessary papers. The easiest way to do this is using the Declaration program.
It is necessary
- - a computer;
- - access to the Internet;
- - the "Declaration" program from the State Tax Service of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation;
- - car sale and purchase agreement;
- - documents confirming your other income and payment of personal income tax from them for the last year.
Instructions
Step 1
You can download the latest version of the program on the website of the Main Research Center of the Federal Tax Service (GNIVTs FTS) of Russia. It is distributed free of charge, has a very simple and intuitive interface, takes up little space on your hard drive, and downloads and installs quite quickly.
Step 2
On the “Setting conditions” tab, tick the main parameters: type of declaration (3NDFL), taxpayer sign (another individual), accounted income depending on sources and who confirms the accuracy (signs the declaration): you personally or your representative. In the second case, you will need a power of attorney.
The four-digit inspection number to enter in the required field usually matches the first four digits of your TIN. If you have changed your place of residence since the receipt of the TIN, you can clarify the required data on the website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia in the "Find IFTS" section by entering the address of your registration at the place of residence in the proposed form, accurate to the street.
Step 3
The section on personal data and registration address does not cause any difficulties. Do not forget to just go to the form for entering the address on the tab with the image of the house and enter the necessary data.
Step 4
On the tab "Income received in the Russian Federation", click on the plus opposite the inscription "Sources of payments". In the form that opens, in the field for the name of the source of income, enter the last name, first name and patronymic of the buyer of the car and his TIN. All other data is optional.
If the buyer is a legal entity (for example, a car dealership), the information required for entering the information must be contained in the sales contract or other document confirming the transaction.
Having driven in all the necessary data, click on the "Yes" button.
Step 5
Click on the plus next to Month of Income. Select the income code from the directory. You need 1520 "Income from the sale of property other than the Central Bank." Then enter in the required columns the amount indicated in the contract and the month according to the date of its conclusion. Do not skip the column dedicated to the deduction code. The simplest option is 906 "Sale of property owned for less than 3 years (up to 250 thousand rubles)." If you can document the expenses (for example, you have preserved evidence of the amount that the car cost you when buying, and it exceeds the proceeds from the sale) and this option is more profitable for you, select field 903 "In the amount of actually incurred expenses."
Step 6
Using the same algorithm, enter all of your sources of income for the past year, including tax agents. The source of the necessary values for you will be the 2NDFL certificates received from them, in other cases - documents that reflect the amounts you received and receipts for the payment of tax made on your own. If you are applying for other tax deductions, fill in the required fields on the appropriate tab.
Then you can view and save the generated declaration to your computer. You can submit it to the tax office during a personal visit, by mail or via the Internet on the Gosuslugi.ru portal. But just in case, check if your tax office has the technical capability for the latter option.
