Common pre-heaters such as "Severs", "Lestar" or "Semenov-Podogrev" are designed for installation on various types of domestic cars and trucks, including GAZ vehicles.
Necessary
- - spanner wrenches;
- - pliers;
- - new band clamps;
- - tank for collecting coolant;
- - coolant
Instructions
Step 1
Close the tap on the vehicle's heating system. Open the cap of the expansion tank and radiator. Place a container under the coolant drain plug to collect it. Unscrew the drain plug and wait until all the liquid is drained. Then disconnect the combined rubber hose of the water pump, thermostat and radiator from its connections.
Step 2
Install the heater between the radiator outlet and the thermostat. To do this, put hose clamps on the hoses before installation, and then tighten them. Fasten the heater housing to the engine support using the standard bracket. When installing the heater, the inlet pipe must be directed forward in relation to the direction of movement of the vehicle. The body should be slightly (5-10 degrees) tilted forward.
Step 3
Route the pre-heater power cable in the engine compartment and secure it with straps. The place where the cable is laid should be away from moving and heating parts of the motor. If the power cable has a connector for connecting to a heater, connect the connector and additionally secure the cable near this connection.
Step 4
Clean the drain hole on the cylinder block and screw it in with a plug. Fill the cooling system with liquid to the required level. Make sure that after all changes the system does not leak at the hose connections. Any leaks found should be repaired by tightening the clamps more tightly and sealing the connections with sealing tape or sealant.
Step 5
Open the heater tap and start the engine. Warm up the engine to operating temperature and check the efficiency of the stove. If it functions significantly worse, eliminate the formed air pockets in the cooling system. Switch off the vehicle. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank and top up to the required value. Connect the heater to a 220 V city network. Make sure that its body heats up, and then the cylinder block is gradually warming up.
