Antifreeze preheater is an indispensable device that facilitates engine start-up in the most severe frosts. This is especially important for VAZ cars, since they "do not like" to start in winter. Installing an autonomous antifreeze heater is a successful solution to this problem, quite feasible on its own.

It is necessary

  • - preheater;
  • - coolant (antifreeze);
  • - a container for collecting antifreeze;
  • - imported clamps;
  • - reinforced hoses of the cooling system.

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect all wires from the battery terminals. Drain the coolant into a prepared container. Subsequently, having gained experience in installing such systems, you will be able to mount heaters without draining the antifreeze.

Step 2

Remove the plug from the fuel pump inlet and install the fuel hose from the kit to the heater on it. To avoid air pockets, make all connections of the fuel pipes end-to-end.

Step 3

Mount the device on the front engine mount support bolt. To do this, unscrew the nut on this bolt, install the heater mounting bracket on it and secure it with the standard nut. Attach the heater block to the bracket. Tighten the nut with a torque of 42-52 Nm.

Step 4

To connect the heater to the cooling system, unscrew the expansion tank cap. Close the heater tap (turn it to the left until it stops). Disconnect the stove supply hose from the engine fitting and connect it to the heater outlet. Tighten the connection with a clamp.

Step 5

Connect the heater inlet to the coolant pump. Tighten the connections with clamps. Route the hose along the front fender right mudguard and bulkhead.

Step 6

Supply power to the heater on a VAZ car with an injection engine from the drain pipe. To do this, unscrew the drain hose, screw the fitting with a sealing gasket into it, and the filter into the fitting. Connect the filter and the fuel pipe of the heater with a hose. Secure all connections with clamps.

Step 7

Connect the power supply of the device on the VAZ carburetor engine to the inlet of the fuel pump using an algorithm similar to that described.

Step 8

Fit the exhaust pipe to the exhaust connection of the heater. Secure the connection with a clamp. Direct the pipe itself in the direction opposite to the movement of the car and fasten it with a bolt connection to the cylinder block bracket.

Step 9

Install the air intake pipe on the heater in the same way. When installing it, try to keep the tip of this pipe as high as possible, but not interfere with the free closing of the hood.

Step 10

Install the instrument control panel on the instrument panel or in any other convenient place. Fix it with screws or self-tapping screws. Route the wires from the control panel to the heater through the technological holes in the bulkhead. Insert the contacts of the wires into the sockets of the block on the heater body.

Step 11

Connect the pre-heater power supply to sockets 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the XS4 connector according to the wiring diagram of the VAZ car. Disconnect the pre-heater power supply every time when connecting or disconnecting the control panel.

Step 12

Pour antifreeze into the cooling system. Connect the wires to the battery terminals. Open the heater tap by turning it as far as possible to the right. Start the engine and check all installed hoses for leaks. After stopping the engine, add antifreeze to the cooling system to the desired level.
