Any damage to the glass of the car not only spoils the appearance of the car, but also reduces traffic safety. Any crack in the glass can be repaired, so do not rush to go straight to the store for new glass.
Instructions
Step 1
Immediately after the appearance of a crack on the glass, take an adhesive tape in your hands and cover the defect with it. This will prevent dirt from entering. Remember to place a piece of clean white paper under the tape to prevent the adhesive from penetrating into the crack. Such measures will make further repairs of better quality and prevent further crack development.
Step 2
If dirt does get in, wash the crack thoroughly and remove the remaining moisture with a vacuum cleaner or water-displacing fluid. Next, carry out the procedure to prevent crack growth, for this measure about 5 mm from the places where the visible part of the crack ends. Drill holes here, which should not affect all the laminated layers. Make sure that drilling takes place at low speed, in order to avoid overheating of the glass in this place.
Step 3
Gently "break" the crack down to the hole by pressing lightly. If there is a chip in the crack, drill additional holes to prevent the crack from diverging after repair. The same must be done in the case when the crack reaches the edge of the glass. Remember that such damage requires special attention and accuracy due to the complexity of high-quality gluing.
Step 4
Fill the holes and the crack with resin. Pre-apply special plates that will prevent the polymer from contact with the environment and prevent it from flowing out. Treat the surface with an ultraviolet lamp to cure the adhesive. Remove excess polymer composition, and then thoroughly clean the interior of small debris, which can bring significant inconvenience in the future. Remember that if there are a lot of cracks or they are large, then it is more advisable to install new glass.
