The scope of application of ATVs is very wide. This is not only fun riding on rough terrain, but also hunting, fishing … The villagers are trying to adapt the ATV for various jobs, using it as an analogue of a mini-tractor. However, not everyone can afford the new machine, so some are trying to build an ATV on their own.
It is necessary
- - pipes, profiles and corners;
- - welding machine;
- - components and assemblies from mopeds and motorcycles;
- - optional equipment.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a drawing or sketch of the future ATV on a piece of paper. Consider what parts you will make yourself and what you will buy. On the drawing, try to draw as accurately as possible the relative position of all components and assemblies and arrange them.
Step 2
Weld the ATV frame from square profiles, round pipes and corners. Whenever possible, try to use elements and fragments of motorcycle frames - their pipes are of high strength. Do not use water pipes. Do not forget to weld the brackets for all components and assemblies.
Step 3
Install the engine and fasten it securely to the frame. For your first homemade ATV, pick up a motor from a moped. Connect the motor shaft to the rear axle gear using a chain drive. Install the power unit controls on the steering wheel. Attach the pedals and control levers to the frame.
Step 4
Use the power supply and ignition system from the same moped as the engine. In the future, equip them with reasonable modifications. Choose a motorcycle fuel tank with as much capacity as possible. Always equip the ignition system with a battery.
Step 5
Units from sidecars and cargo scooters are suitable as front and rear axles. They require almost no alteration, with the exception of the hubs for new wheels. For the manufacture of the suspension, use spring shock absorbers from Japanese mopeds.
Step 6
Steer using two rods that will turn the front wheels. Connect the brake lever with the transmission brake, which is normally installed on the sprocket of the rear axle "Tula-200".
Step 7
Make the outer panels of your ATV from fiberglass. First, make wood or plasticine blanks, and then glue the panels on them. Before installing them on a motorcycle, match them to each other, sand and paint them. Take individual body kit parts from serial cars.
