Almost every motorist has at least once faced the replacement of a coolant pump (pump). It is driven by a crankshaft pulley. The pump body and cover are made of aluminum alloy. The cover has a bearing that is locked with a screw, a roller is installed. The bearing is double-row, non-separable, without an inner race. Quite often, problems arise with the removal and installation of the pump.

Instructions

Step 1

Most often, if the pump breaks down, it is not necessary to remove it. Usually only the pump cover complete with the roller, bearing, impeller, and also the hub is changed or repaired.

Step 2

First, drain the antifreeze that is present in the cylinder block and radiator. Then unscrew the timing belt tension nut. Be careful. It is not recommended to apply excessive force to the nut. Then unscrew the nut securing the tension bar to the pump cover. Remove the bar.

Step 3

Go to the generator. It is necessary to loosen the alternator belt. This may require you to loosen the lower generator mounting nut. It is best to cover the radiator with newspaper. This will prevent cuts. This is because the generator has very sharp edges.

Step 4

Remove the two nuts that secure the bottom half of the fan shroud. Remove the bottom half of the shroud. Remove the bolt securing the upper half of the fan cowl. The bolt is screwed onto the bracket on the pump. After that, you can also remove the upper half of the casing. Remove the three screws that secure the fan impeller and remove it. It is also necessary to remove the pump drive pulley. Remove the four bolts securing the pump cover to its body. Remove the fan cowl mounting bracket. Now you can remove the pump cover.

Step 5

You need to collect in the same way, but in the reverse order. Purchase a new gasket in advance. The old one can be thrown away. It is best to put the gasket on a sealant. Note that there is a groove in the fan shroud to assist with proper installation on the fan mounting bracket. Tighten the belt, fill in antifreeze and drive out the plugs.
