During the operation of Opel cars, in particular the Opel Vectra model, you may have the following situation: you pull the hood opening lever all the way, a click is heard under it, but the hood remains in place. If you go to it and push, then something will click under it, but the problem will not be eliminated.
Instructions
Step 1
The hood may not open due to a broken spring. With such a problem, you can use one of the most common methods, only you will need a partner. Sitting in the passenger compartment, pull the lever all the way and do not let go. In the meantime, your partner should press on the hood where the latch is.
Step 2
If you cannot find an assistant at the moment, use another method. Pull the lever that is responsible for opening the hood up to the stop, and then fix it in this position using some improvised materials (for example, a piece of pipe or a thick stick about 20 cm long). Then drive along the "difficult" roads such as paving stones, tram tracks, rural areas, but do not get carried away too much. During such a "hectic" ride, the hood will open by itself.
Step 3
The spring may not break, but if it is worn it can also cause the bonnet to jam. The cable may also loosen. In such cases, you need to either unscrew the hairpin inside the spring by 1-2 turns, or tighten the cable accordingly. With the cable, things are more complicated, because it is quite difficult to get to it. The cable jacket is located near the battery. So, you need to loosen or completely unscrew the bolt on the clamp mount, then pull out the shirt to the required distance and fix the mount again. Keep in mind that the cable tightened in this way will last for a maximum of six months, after which it will have to be changed in any case.
Step 4
Among other things, the condition of all functional parts must be verified. If necessary, clean the latch mechanism from accumulated dirt, lubricate the plug on the hood and the spring. It is possible that the hood did not open precisely because of this. Then you will be able to avoid wasting time on unnecessary repairs.
