In order to drive a vehicle, you must obtain a driver's license. They fall into several categories, each with its own limitations.
Today, driving licenses with categories A, B, C, D, E are valid on the roads of the Russian Federation. But since traffic rules are often changed and supplemented, innovations do not bypass the categories of driver's licenses. The main differences between the various categories are that they give the right to drive different vehicles and under different conditions.
Traditional categories of driving licenses
For category A, there are no great requirements, since with the rights of this open category, you can only drive motor vehicles, including motorcycles with sidecars. But it is they who are rare on the roads today. Having reached the age of 18, such rights can already be obtained. Category A allows you to drive vehicles weighing less than 400 kg. Category B is the most numerous, giving the right to drive light vehicles, the mass of which is not more than 3.5 tons, and the number of seats is not more than 8. This includes off-road vehicles, small minibuses.
Category C makes it possible to drive vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons, but does not give the right to drive lighter vehicles. Holders of category D rights are allowed to drive vehicles intended for the carriage of passengers. Such rights are issued to bus drivers, regardless of the size of the latter. Category E makes it possible to drive almost an entire train equipped with a tractor. Category E supplements the existing one, for example C or B. This gives the right to drive a car or bus with a connected heavy trailer.
Recently introduced driver license categories
Not so long ago, the traffic rules were expanded, and if earlier scooters could be operated by anyone, today it is necessary to obtain the rights of the AM category. They give the right to drive a vehicle weighing up to 350 kg and an engine capacity of up to 50 cubic meters. cm. A1 - the volume of the vehicle's engine exceeds 50 cm3. category B1 gives the right to drive ATVs or motor vehicles, the weight of which is up to 400 kg. With category C1, you can get behind the wheel of minibuses or minibuses weighing 3.5 - 7.5 tons. With category D1, you can carry out passenger transportation by car, where there are no more than 16 seats + 1 driver's seat. They remind of category C license. Category "T" is intended for driving electric transport, trolleybus and tram, without the right to drive buses.
It is not difficult to obtain a new license; if you have a driver's license, you need to undergo additional training corresponding to the new category and pass exams. The easiest way to draw up is category E, it is additional, you only have to take practice.
