The fuel pump is an important element of the car's fuel system, which is necessary for supplying fuel to the engine. Therefore, in the event of a breakdown, it is necessary to replace it as soon as possible.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the necessary tools: a Phillips screwdriver, a set of wrenches, a clamp and a new fuel pump if you will remove it and then replace it. It is advisable that there is as little gasoline in the tank as possible. If possible, drain it first. Work in an open area, away from flammable and hot materials.
Step 2
Open the trunk and remove the carpet inside it. Fold back the rear seat backs, if possible, and work through the open rear door. Unscrew the small cap that provides access to the tank cap. Thoroughly wipe the surface of the tank from dust and dirt so that it does not get inside. Disconnect the wire connector. To do this, gently bend the clips at the edges.
Step 3
Disconnect the two hoses that are secured with a clamp and bolt with gaskets. Try not to lose these details, so put them aside right away. Lower your hand inside the gas tank and feel the latches that hold the gas pump you need. Carefully snap them off and pull the pump out, having previously memorized or marked its position relative to the hose, so that later when installing a new one, there will be no unnecessary problems.
Step 4
Unscrew the nuts that secure the negative and positive terminals on the contacts of the fuel pump. Remove the clamp that secures the high pressure hose and finally disconnect the pump. After that, take a new unit and insert it into the place of the old one, making sure that it fits as accurately as possible.
Step 5
Tighten the clamp and connect the wires. Turn the pump slightly so that the suction neck fits exactly into the recess. Make sure that all latches snap into place. Remember that the neck and latches are made of plastic, so any hard and hard pressing can break them.
