Unfortunately, you can often come across arguments about the "uselessness" of a car's parking brake. In this connection, I would like to wish good luck on the road to motorists who insist that the designers of the cars wasted their time developing the parking brake mechanism. They probably do not know that, moving in a car at a speed of 60 km / h, a normally pulled "handbrake" is able to effectively ensure a complete stop of the car. And in the event of a failure of the hydraulic brake drive, this becomes the only option for a trouble-free stopping.

Instructions

Step 1

Motorists who have realized the importance of the "handbrake", as well as decided to change their attitude towards this brake mechanism (from negative to positive), are obliged to constantly monitor its functioning. If the parking brake lever is fully tightened between the fourth and sixth clicks, then there is nothing to worry about. But, as for those who have a discrepancy with the standard, they need to adjust the handbrake drive. As a rule, it comes down to pulling up the cables.

Step 2

Adjustment of the parking brake drive is carried out on the inspection pit, overpass or lift. The latter option is less desirable because the suspended rear axle creates difficulties in determining the degree of cable tension.

Step 3

Having placed the VAZ 2106 car in one of the listed places, the handbrake lever is released completely. And to prevent spontaneous movement of the machine, the first stage of the gearbox is switched on.

Step 4

Then, from the bottom of the car, in the area of the gearbox shank, above the propeller shaft, it is necessary to find a bracket to which all three cables are attached. The two outermost ones go to the rear wheel hubs, and the middle cable at the end has a threaded tip with nuts, which is what we need.

Step 5

We release the lock nut and begin to tighten the adjusting nut with a 13 mm wrench, periodically checking the tightening torque of the parking brake. Recall that a noticeable effort when tightening the handbrake should appear on the third or fourth click, and on the sixth - tightening should be fully realized. If the tightening of the handbrake continues beyond the specified limit, then the adjusting nut is tightened again, continuing to shorten the length of the middle cable, pulling the "handbrake".

Step 6

Having achieved a full tightening of the handbrake no more than a sixth click, pulling up the parking brake actuator is considered complete. From now on, safety while driving on the road will be much higher.
