Automotive rain sensor is an optoelectronic device installed on the windshield and responding to its moisture. Used for automatic control of wipers and mechanisms that close the sunroof and door windows.

The sensor is triggered by the refraction of light. On dry glass, the emitted beam reflects off the surface and returns to the sensor, and the droplets scatter the light.

Instructions

Step 1

The heavier the rain, the less light comes back, and the wipers work more often. And the ring on the steering column switch adjusts the sensitivity. It should be noted that these properties of sensitivity also depend on the nature of the movement of the car, more precisely, its speed.

Many people face the problem: how to turn off the rain sensor? The main reason is for the brushes to work in interval mode, and not through the sensor, so that when small drops hit the glass, the sensor starts to perform its functions properly.

So, first try the following. Using the regulator, which is located on the wiper arm, increase the parameters of its sensitivity. This will cause the sensor to react to just starting rain and to be triggered at the first drops.

Step 2

Switch the regulator until it reacts to falling drops. If it doesn't, use a different method.

Step 3

Adjust the ON and OFF buttons during operation. The problem with these sensors is that they don't respond in time. In order to make the sensor work, at the first drops of rain, press the shutdown button, and then immediately the power button. The sensor will start working. If you do not want it to work at one time or another, just press the shutdown button, temporarily blocking its functioning.

Step 4

If the problems with the sensor remain unchanged, unplug the connector, completely disconnecting the on-board computer. This will disable the sensor and prevent it from triggering under any circumstances. After that, configure the operation of the wipers manually as you wish. The wipers' working interval can be set independently. To do this, with the ignition on, press the lever down from position 0, wait for the desired period of time (from 2 to 15 seconds) and then set the lever to the position of periodic inclusion.
