The rain sensor is used in cars in the form of an optical-electronic device that is installed on the windshield and reacts to the appearance of moisture on it. The functions of this sensor include automatic control of "wipers" - wipers; and it also activates mechanisms that close the sunroof and door windows. Drivers are often annoyed by the unpredictable operation of the wipers due to the rain sensor, which is designed for the European driving mode (no traffic jams and at high speeds). Therefore, car owners want to disable this sensor and manually adjust the wipers.
Necessary
- - manual for your car model;
- - Service station where your model is served;
- - an experienced programmer who can disable or remove the program in the computer that controls the rain sensor.
Instructions
Step 1
First, try all possible ways to settle the issue with the rain sensor without turning it off. Find a specialist to turn it off without mechanical stress. This can be very difficult - although this complexity varies from minus to plus depending on the prevalence of your car model. Start by keeping the rain sensor window clean at all times. If the glass in this place is dirty - under the guidance of the sensor, the "wipers" work according to an arbitrary program.
Step 2
Also try to get rid of the vagaries of the rain sensor by adjusting the sensitivity regulator - it is located on the wiper arm - to increase this very sensitivity. If the sensor does not respond to small drops, click the regulator to the right until it (the sensor) starts to respond.
Step 3
Simply making the rain sensor stop working is pretty easy. To do this, pull the connector out of it. In this case, the "wipers" of your car will now operate only in the so-called "intermittent" mode. And in addition to this inconvenience, a permanent sensor error will now be written in your onboard power supply control unit (which, in principle, can, of course, be removed by recoding the unit). And, most importantly, the automatic mode of turning on the headlights will stop working. If all this does not frighten you - remove the connector from the sensor.
