Not all car owners periodically check the state of the heating system of their car. But if it gets cold, it's time to turn on the stove, but it doesn't work, you can try to figure it out yourself or immediately contact the service.
First you need to check the heating system as a whole. The design of the stove in the car consists of the following elements: - a radiator; - air ducts; - an electric fan; - nozzles for fluid circulation; - control air dampers; - a valve for regulating the flow of liquid. If no visible damage was found, then the stove may have stopped working due to airing of the cooling system after replacing antifreeze. In this case, on a cold engine (when it is running it is dangerous), unscrew the cap from the radiator and bleed the system with your hands, squeezing and unclenching the hoses. Since it will not be possible to immediately get rid of airing, you should start the engine (after tightening the radiator cap first), let it run for a couple of minutes and, after cooling it, repeat the procedure and add antifreeze. However, the antifreeze itself may be of poor quality, which leads to a breakdown of the thermostat and, as a result, contamination of the radiator. Unstable operation of the heating system is often associated with the absence or severe contamination of the cabin filter. Such contamination leads to the penetration of dust and dirt particles into the motor, which, when they enter the radiator, clog it, which prevents the circulation of the hot air flow. The absence or breakdown of filters and contamination of the radiator often lead to malfunctions in the operation of the air conditioner and, as a result, an unpleasant smell in the car. So if the stove does not work, and there is a suffocating putrid smell in the cabin, take care of replacing the filters and cleaning the radiator. If the radiator of your car is completely covered with dirt, drips or even rotted, then the repair will be expensive, especially since in this case it is better to trust the professionals. And in order for the heating system and cooling system to work stably and do not require large material costs, it is necessary to carry out preventive measures at least once a year.
