The ignition coil (babin) is an automobile generator, which is one of the main components of the ignition system of an automobile engine. Babin converts the sharp drop in voltage from the switch into a high voltage pulse.

Necessary

  • - socket wrench "10";
  • - ohmmeter.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, inspect the plastic cover of the ignition coil for mechanical damage, cracks, dirt, oil leakage and overheating. If you find something, the coil needs to be replaced.

Step 2

You can check the ignition coil (bobbin) without removing it from the car, but nevertheless, on the advice of experienced motorists, craftsmen, it is better to remove it, for convenience, from your car. To remove, take the socket wrench at "10".

Step 3

Since any bobbin consists of a primary, secondary winding and electrical connectors, it is first necessary to check the resistance of the primary winding of the ignition coil, which receives an intermittent low voltage current. To do this, you need to connect an ohmmeter to the low voltage terminals of your bobbin. Remember that the resistance at 25 ° C should be (0.42 ± 0.05) ohms for the ignition coil 8352.12 and (0.43 ± 0.04) ohms for the ignition coil 3122.3705. If it differs from the standard value, then it must be replaced.

Step 4

Next, you need to check the resistance of the secondary winding of the ignition coil (bobbin), in which a high voltage current is induced. To do this, connect an ohmmeter to the low-voltage terminal "B" of the bobbin and to the high-voltage terminal. But do not forget that the resistance at a temperature of 25 ° C should be (5, 00 ± 1, 00) kOhm for the ignition coil 8352.12 and (4, 08 ± 0, 40) kOhm for the ignition coil 3122.3705. If it differs from the standard value, then it must be replaced. Most importantly, remember to remove the electrical connectors from the ignition coil.

Step 5

And finally, you should check the insulation resistance for "ground". And for this you need to connect an ohmmeter to the body of the bobbin and alternately to each of its terminals. If the resistance of the ignition coil is less than 50 megohms, this means that it is defective and a new one must be installed.
