A cigarette lighter in a car is an indispensable item for many motorists. It can be used to connect a car refrigerator, charger and other appliances. Failure of this device requires its disassembly and repair.
Instructions
Step 1
Before carrying out work, disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery and have a screwdriver ready. Then remove the interior floor tunnel lining. To do this, unscrew the fastening bolts and detach the left edge of the cladding. Do the same for the right side. This will provide yourself with access to the cigarette lighter from the inside.
Step 2
Carefully remove the cigarette lighter socket, then push the connectors with the wires of the cigarette lighter itself and its illumination lamp through the hole in the lining of the passenger compartment tunnel. Gently squeeze the lamp shield and remove it. At the same time, make sure that its clips come out of the slots in the fiber, otherwise it will not be possible to remove this part.
Step 3
Take a screwdriver in your hands and use it to press the latch of the cigarette lighter socket. Disengage it from the light guide. Then push the socket out of the lining and remove the socket. To do this, thread the block with the wires through the hole.
Step 4
Remember that the cigarette lighter coil in normal working condition should heat up in about 20 seconds. Then the chuck should return to its original position with a characteristic click. If this does not happen, or the cartridge takes its original position much earlier or later than this time value, then it is necessary to adjust the cigarette lighter. To do this, carefully bend or unbend the contacts on the housing.
Step 5
Pull the light guide out of the cladding last. To do this, squeeze its latches and pull it out. The subsequent assembly is carried out in the reverse order, during which make sure that the projection of the fiber goes into the slot on the cladding. After completing the work, be sure to check the functionality of the cigarette lighter.
