Every motorist sooner or later is faced with the need to clean the seats of his car. To tidy up the seats, it is almost always necessary to remove the upholstery from the seats. The procedure for removing the upholstery may differ depending on the make and equipment of the vehicle, but the general guidelines are generally the same. Consider, for example, how to remove the front seat upholstery of a Kia Ceed.
Instructions
Step 1
To ensure complete safety of work, first disconnect the battery terminal. Now move the front seat as far forward as possible and sit in the back seat.
Step 2
Take the front seat upholstery at the bottom corner and pull it towards the floor. Take out the plastic cord sewn to the upholstery. Now, in the same way, pull the edge of the upholstery to the side. Behind the trim you will see plastic latch hooks. Take them off.
Step 3
Lift the loose upholstery up. There are three more plastic clips underneath that you also need to remove. Remove the retainer (located near the airbag).
Step 4
Remove the headrest attachment. To do this, carefully put your hand under the upholstery, feel the catch, press on it and lift the mount up.
Step 5
Loosen the right and left upholstery at the bottom of the seat (where it is adjusted). Remove the upholstery together with the foam rubber. Turn the upholstery, that is, remove the foam rubber from it. You will see metal rings that pull the upholstery to the foam and shape the seat. Unfold the rings and release the upholstery completely.
Step 6
Now unscrew the seat by removing the protective plastic caps at the back. Unscrew the opened bolts, then move the seat as far forward as possible and unscrew the fastening bolts located in the front. Tilt the seat back and disconnect the three plugs (there are two in the driver's seat). Disconnect the harness attachment.
Step 7
Unscrew the self-tapping screw that secures the decorative plastic panel. Fold back the panel and detach the latch. Remove the upholstery from the hooks. Pull down on the edge of the upholstery and remove it around the perimeter. Lift the seat up to reveal the three latches. Remove the latches.
Step 8
Unscrew the upholstery carefully in place, being careful not to jerk it so as not to cut the wire leading to the sensor. Unfold the rings. The upholstery is now in your hands. Put the foam rubber from the back on the frame, put the seat in place. After washing the upholstery and making it look good, replace the upholstery on the seat in reverse order.
