Knowing which alarm model is installed on your car is necessary to disable it, program, repair, buy an additional key fob. You can determine the model of the security system in various ways, even if you do not have the key fob or instructions for the alarm in your hands.
Instructions
Step 1
Start with your keyring. Many manufacturers indicate the name of the alarm on the remote control. And the key fobs themselves in the same model range are similar in shape or have their own corporate design of the case. Starline has blue consoles. But each alarm also has its own serial model. It so happens that the remotes are similar in appearance, but completely incompatible with each other. Having identified the manufacturer of the alarm, find its website, where you can take a closer look at the alarm models.
Step 2
If the remote control is without an LCD display, this does not mean that the alarm is without feedback. It can be an additional key fob or a GSM alarm system. There are 4 buttons on such key fobs. If the remote has no buttons at all, then this is the immobilizer label.
Step 3
If the key fob is lost or the name cannot be determined from it, find the alarm unit. It is installed under the dashboard of the car in the area of the pedals or the glove compartment. To find the exact location of the unit, look where the wire from the LED goes. Sometimes for this you have to disassemble part of the dashboard and side struts. But the further the block is hidden, the less chances that the hijackers will find it and turn it off. The unit must contain the name of the alarm, its model and serial number.
Step 4
Sometimes the LED itself can help in determining the signaling model. For example, the Black Bug alarm has a rectangular LED with lights running inside it.
Step 5
If the car is new and was purchased from a dealer, contact the technical center of the salon. All salons, as a rule, work with a limited number of security systems. The Bodybuilder will tell you which alarm is installed on your machine by finding your datasheet. You can also get a copy of the operating instructions, order an additional key fob and "register" it.
