The kart is a small sports car that is quite popular among young car enthusiasts. Racing karts require a specific road surface that is smooth and level. However, if you are not a professional racer, but you want to "drive", you can build a kart at home, and such that it will ride on normal roads.

Step 1
If you decide to build such a "baby" with your own hands, then you should know well its technical characteristics. So, the total length of the kart cannot exceed 1320 mm, the diameter of the wheels is 350 mm, the longitudinal distance between the axles (wheelbase) varies from 1010 to 1220 mm, and the track size is at least 2/3 of the wheelbase.
Step 2
Cook the base. The card is based on a frame welded from pipes, and experts advise to make it exclusively from magnetic materials, such as duralumin, titanium and carbon will not work. All work is carried out in a specific sequence, so first make the front and rear axles, and only then weld the frame.
Step 3
Get a motor. The engine for your mini car needs a two-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, additives as fuel are not allowed, only commercial grade gasoline. In the braking system, two of the four wheels must be involved, and an ordinary (round) car steering wheel is used to control the kart.
Step 4
Make a kart platform for the width of the frame, the length from the control pedals to the seat. Install a safety guard to keep your feet from sliding off the platform. The seat should be with a backrest so that the rider does not shift to the side when cornering, and do not forget about the thermal insulation protection from burns - the engine located very close "has a habit" to get very hot.
Step 5
Pay attention to the fact that the transmission parts must be covered by at least half of the gear wheel, for which use a special shield. Also, secure and close the fuel tank (its capacity is no more than 5 liters) so as to avoid fuel ejection. And be sure to cotter the undercarriage and steering assemblies.
Step 6
Use both domestic and foreign ignition systems and carburetors, shockproof means are also not prohibited. But install the body and fairing on your kart; differential or similar mechanism; a steering wheel with a worm, chain, cable or gear drive; supercharger; fuel injection and pedals, when pressed, you do not have the right to go beyond the dimensions of the frame - these are the requirements.
