The choice of tires depends on the climatic conditions in which you are going to ride. If you will be operating the machine in icy conditions, choose studded tires. The more studs the tires have, the more reliable the grip will be. Examine the tire carefully. The studs should not be arranged in slender rows on the rubber, but in a chaotic manner, so the maximum grip area is ensured. It is better if the spikes have a square in cross section. The tread pattern should be deep to enhance the grip on slippery roads. Check for lamellas (small stripes) on the surface, they are needed for the same purpose as the spikes.

If you are going to use the machine in areas where ice is rare, but snowfalls are frequent, in particular wet snow, consider purchasing non-studded winter tires. Examine the coverage of such a tire. On these tires there are rectangular checkers located across the entire surface in a checkerboard pattern. The tread depth of such tires must be at least 10 mm. The ornament on the surface should be directed in order to remove slush from under the wheels. Outwardly, it resembles a herringbone, like on summer rain tires.
Step 3
Inspect the tires, you can in the presence of an independent specialist, in order to assess their quality. Examine the tire carefully by touch. The tire should not be completely rigid. For a quality product, it will rather be a little gutta-percha. When sliding, the tire should adhere slightly to the slippery surface. The tread pattern should be asymmetrical. This arrangement of the ornamentation on the rubber will help increase grip. On the outside there are elements responsible for grip on the asphalt, on the inside - for contact with the snowy surface. Keep the tire in the cold. Quality rubber designed for winter will not change its condition. Poor quality rubber will break. All-season tires will also suffer in severe frost.
