Modern car alarms allow not only to protect the vehicle from theft, but also perform many other useful functions. The engine start alarm allows you to start the car from the remote control without leaving your home. This function is indispensable in the cold season and on cars with a diesel engine, which needs a long warm-up.

Instructions

Step 1

There are alarms that already include the engine autostart function, which must be programmed during installation. If there is no such function, then you can purchase an autorun module, which is connected to the alarm separately, but only if the system has an additional channel.

Step 2

The principle of autorun operation is simple. If you have a car with automatic transmission, but not turbocharged, you arm the car in the usual way. If you have a manual transmission or a turbine, then you need to arm the car when the engine is running - this function is provided in the system. If the engine stalls before you have time to press the alarm key fob, the car will not start from the remote control.

Step 3

A significant disadvantage of autostart is the need to leave the second ignition key in the car. It is placed in a special block that receives the signal from the remote control and transmits it to the ignition switch. The ignition switch reads the signal from the key like starting the engine and starts the car. After the car has started, it can work autonomously for 20-30 minutes, after that it will stall.

Step 4

But in severe frosts, you cannot start the car from the remote control. After minus 20-25, the lock freezes and does not receive incoming signals. Or there is not enough battery power for the system to work properly.

Step 5

The alarm system must first of all perform its security functions, therefore, when choosing, pay attention to the degree of protection, especially the presence of a dialog code.

Step 6

If the car has a turbocharged engine, then when working at high speeds, they get very hot. You can use the turbo timer function to cool it down. After arming the car, the engine continues to run for another 1-3 minutes at idle, thereby cooling the turbine. The turbo timer module can be purchased and installed separately from the security system.
