The clutch is the block in the car that is designed to make handling easier, starting off and shifting gears ideal. Replacing the clutch block on the Oka is not much different from replacing the nine or ten. The dimensions of the car are only smaller.
The clutch in the car is necessary to decouple the gearbox and engine. For a smooth start-off and to facilitate gear shifting, it is necessary to break the connection between the gearbox and the engine. Try to pull off without disengaging the clutch? Of course, having certain skills, you can both get under way and switch gears. But it will be hard enough to do. In addition, the load, both on the engine and on the box, increases several times. The result is rapid wear of gears and shafts.
What does the Oka clutch consist of?
Let's start at the pedal and go to the very end. Firstly, a cable drive is installed on the Oka. It has several advantages. For example, cheapness, ease of maintenance, ease of replacement, durability. Secondly, the clutch unit itself is two-disc, as in most modern cars. Multi-disc types are usually installed on motor vehicles.
The master and slave disks are the backbone of the unit. The lead (basket) is screwed onto the flywheel attached to the engine crankshaft. But the slave is installed on the input shaft of the gearbox using only a splined connection. Another detail of the assembly is the release bearing, which is required to squeeze the driven disc away from the drive. The bearing moves along the input shaft and rotates freely.
Replacing the clutch on the Oka
Before starting work, disconnect the battery and drain the oil from the box. It will be easier without it, but the procedure may not be carried out; with careful dismantling, you will not lose a drop of oil. You need to remove the box in any case, you cannot do without it. It is most convenient to carry out repairs on a pit, overpass or lift. However, if there is even a small springboard, then you can remove it.
First of all, we lift the front of the car, set it on stands and remove the wheels. It is necessary to remove the CV joints from the gearbox, for this we unscrew the ball joints. Please note that the grenades must be removed one at a time. They first removed one, installed a plug in its place, only after that start removing the second. Otherwise, trouble awaits you - the differential gears will fall into the gearbox housing. We'll have to disassemble it and waste a lot of time assembling the gears.
When you remove the box, you can start replacing the parts of the clutch block. First, remove the basket, which is attached to the flywheel with six bolts. Note that these bolts must not be reinstalled after removal. There is a driven disc in the basket. It is most effective to replace all the parts, then you definitely will not be mistaken. Do not forget that after installing the discs, you do not need to immediately tighten the mounting bolts, centering is required first. And don't forget the release bearing. A trifle, but if it starts buzzing, then you will scold yourself for not changing it. The sound, frankly, is not pleasant.
