Driving a car with a faulty clutch is highly discouraged, because this can lead to very unpleasant consequences. To avoid increasing your chances of getting into a car accident, change your clutch on time.
The first, but not always clear sign that it is time to change the clutch is a squeak when you press the pedal. Try to squeeze the clutch and listen. If you hear a creak, then it's time to visit the service center. Please note that the appearance of a squeak is not the surest sign of a clutch failure. Sometimes the creak of the mechanism is taken, for example, the creak of a rubber mat, which appears when you press the pedal. This is why you should make sure that the squeak is caused by the grip and not something else. But in any case, if it is possible to diagnose, it should be done. An additional symptom that can accompany squeaks is a noticeable twitching of the pedal. Its appearance already clearly indicates the need for repair or replacement of the clutch.
The most obvious and sure sign of a clutch failure is the appearance of a characteristic smell of burnt plastic. It is almost impossible to confuse, or, even more so, not to notice this smell. Note that once the clutch starts to burn, you won't have much time to replace it. After the smell of burnt plastic appears, you should immediately go to the service center or change the clutch yourself.
You will immediately know that the clutch is not okay when shifting problems begin. The clutch pedal will be much more difficult to squeeze, then it will become difficult to change gears. As a rule, first of all, difficulties arise with the inclusion of the first and reverse gear. And finally, shifting gears will become completely impossible, the gearbox and clutch will simply cease to "obey" you. It is better not to bring it to this stage: as soon as you notice that gear shifting has become difficult, urgently engage in diagnostics and repairs, or replacing the clutch.
