Necessary

  • - Nippers;
  • - insulating tape;
  • - a diagram for connecting a specific model of the radio;
  • - for a Japanese car, you will also need fasteners for the radio.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure that the mounting size of the radio matches the mounting seat in the car. The standard mounting size is 1DIN (5x18cm) and 2DIN (10x18cm).

Step 2

Connect the main electrical connector to the car wiring harness. All European cars have a special "euro" connector to connect the radio. It is the same configuration for all brands, but the colors of the wires may differ. To facilitate this task, in the kits of modern Alpine radio tape recorders, an adapter is supplied from the Euro connector to the Alpine connector. The Euro adapter supplied with the radio does not fit Japanese connectors, and they are different for different brands. On sale you can find adapters from "Euro" to Toyota or Nissan, but in most cases it is unrealistic to buy them and you have to work with wire cutters to connect the power supply and speaker wires to the corresponding wires on the car. In addition, if the radio has a monitor, then the parking brake sensor must be connected, and on American radio models, the main brake pedal sensor is also required. Insulate all wire connections with insulating tape.

Step 3

Insert the connector with the wires into the special socket of the radio. Also connect the antenna wire for normal radio operation. On an Alpine radio, the aerial plug socket fits all European car brands. For Japanese cars, either the plug or the socket must be replaced.

Step 4

Now you need to fix the radio tape recorder in its seat. With a European car, as always, everything is simple - a radio tape recorder with a connected electrical connector is inserted into a special frame that comes with the radio tape recorder, then a decorative plastic frame is installed around the front panel, which is also supplied with the radio tape recorder. To fix the radio tape recorder on a Japanese car, you will need special fasteners that are suitable only for a specific body type. They can be removed from the previously installed or from the factory radio. Before that, you need to remove the decorative panel that covers the radio and, in most cases, the climate controller and ventilation. After fixing in the seat, the radio is closed with a plastic panel, which is an integral part of the console of the dashboard of a Japanese car.
