It is necessary

  • - wrench;
  • - drift;
  • - a hammer.

Instructions

Step 1

Carefully remove the steering wheel trim strip by loosening all mounting screws. Unscrew the steering pad. These manipulations are carried out in order to open the main steering wheel mounting nut located on the steering shaft. It is with her that you will work.

Step 2

Remove the key from the ignition switch and turn the steering wheel slightly until the anti-theft mechanism is triggered. The steering wheel should lock. Take a wrench and unscrew the fastening nut. Try to remove the steering wheel. Most often, unfortunately, these activities are not enough.

Step 3

If you are unable to remove the steering wheel, sit in the driver's seat and rest your knees on the steering wheel, as if lifting it from below. While in this position, strike sharply into the center of the steering shaft using a drift. The drift should rest against the edge of the slot of the nut, while sharp blows should be applied to its second end with a hammer. Make sure that the drift does not fall off and damage the steering wheel. Try to deliver accurate strikes. After the second or third impact, the steering wheel hub will slide off the splines and you can remove the steering wheel.

Step 4

Carefully remove the old steering wheel and replace with the new steering wheel. In this case, the wheels of the car should not deviate either to the left or to the right, but to stand absolutely level. Otherwise, you will not be able to orient yourself when driving to the position of the steering wheel. Tighten the retaining nut. Check if the car signal works, if not then you will have to remove the steering wheel again and check where there is no contact. During normal operation of the signal, it can be said that the replacement of the steering wheel is over.
