Chip tuning is software debugging and tuning of the engine for a new design or standard assembly. The software is installed in the ECU (electronic control unit) of the car and allows you to use it on a new debugged program.
To install chip tuning, an injector is needed on the car, and this itself implies the presence of an ECU and electronic injectors on the engine, and thus the electronic unit uses the firmware data, transmits a signal to the injectors in order to supply more or less fuel to the combustion chamber. You can also turn off the lambda probe to improve efficiency and timing of fuel injection from the throttle position, which will also either save fuel or improve slightly the dynamics of the car.
The use of chip tuning on a standard motor configuration is a controversial issue, since engineers when designing a new motor used the tested data and initially entered data into the firmware with a margin for the engine in order to increase the motor resource. New motors initially have a 5% power reserve. Therefore, it makes no sense to use chip tuning on a standard engine, because the restriction is simply removed from the engine, and using economical firmware is also fraught with consequences for the engine, the firmware forces you not to add fuel in the required amount, thereby forcing the combustion chamber to work by 25% on a dry basis, reducing the resource of the motor. Therefore, the feasibility of installing the firmware on a standard motor, each owner decides for himself.
Chip tuning should be used for non-standard motors for debugging its settings, so that it does not triple, for example, or an increase in power wasting a resource, but to achieve sports results. An example is a car on which, instead of standard pistons and connecting rods, lighter ones were used, thereby increasing the efficiency (efficiency) of the motor and for stable operation, chip tuning should be used.
