A driver's license with an indication of the category corresponding to the type of transport is a document that gives the owner of the vehicle the right to drive it. But sometimes, for some reason, the driver has to contact the traffic police to replace the driver's license.
When to replace your driver's license

Documents for replacing a driver's license
Replacement of a driver's license is carried out after a certain package of documents has been submitted to the inspection, which includes:
- a statement from the driver, written by hand or on a printed form, which is issued at the local traffic police department;
- passport or any other document that can confirm the identity of the driver. It can be a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a certificate of servicemen of the Russian Federation of officers, warrant officers and warrant officers, a military card of contract soldiers and conscripts of Russia, as well as a certificate that is temporarily issued by the Department of Internal Affairs instead of a passport and has the same effect;
- medical certificate, which confirms the driver's admission to driving;
- in the absence of permanent registration, a document confirming temporary registration is required;
- driver card, if available. If the license was issued as a result of training at correspondence driving courses, then it is necessary to attach a certificate confirming the externally passed state examinations at the traffic police;
- driver's license to be replaced;
- a receipt confirming the payment of the state duty in the established amount for the issuance of a new driver's license.
Replacing a driver's license does not require changing the OSAGO insurance, since the new document will contain the number of the old license. Having completed all these documents properly, you must submit them to the local traffic police department, and after checking their compliance, you can get a new driver's license. In this case, it is necessary to check the correctness of the spelling of the surname and first name, as well as the correspondence of the driver's license number.
State duty for replacing a driver's license
Replacing a driver's license implies the payment of a state duty, the amount of which is determined by the state. These are payments to the state treasury, which are directed to the preparation of documents and salaries to employees who work with them.
Since 01.01.2015, the amount of the state duty has been increased and at the moment it is 2,000 rubles to obtain an internal new certificate. Replacement of a driver's license for international use this year is 1600 rubles.
Payment of the state duty for the issuance of a new driver's license can be made at any branch, branch or terminal of the Sberbank of the Russian Federation. For greater convenience, the terminals are located directly in the traffic police departments, which allows you to find out on the spot if the amount of the fee has changed, pay it and immediately attach a receipt to the package of documents.
