A car or bicycle pump can not only pump, but also evacuate air. Since the nozzle at the inlet of such a pump is not provided, a slight modification will have to be made to connect the hose to it.

Instructions

Step 1

Unscrew the hose from the pump outlet. Find the hole on the body of the device through which the air is drawn in. Make sure that a vacuum is generated at this port when the handle is pulled out of the pump (or when the pedal is released).

Step 2

Scrape off the paint (if any) around the hole so that you do not tear it off with the glue later. It will hold up much better if applied directly to metal or plastic. Apply adhesive around the hole so that it does not get inside the pump.

Step 3

Cut out the rubber ring with a diameter slightly larger than the glue spot. The inner hole in the ring should be slightly wider than the hole in the pump itself. Glue it so that the axes of the holes match. Let the glue dry.

Step 4

Cut out an adapter from plastic, the cross-section of which is round, and the longitudinal section is T-shaped. It must also have a longitudinal hole through it. The latter should have approximately the same diameter as in the ring. Glue it with the wide side to the ring, preventing glue from getting into the holes of the pump and adapter.

Step 5

Measure the diameter of the narrow side of the adapter. Use a PVC cambric of a diameter that fits over the adapter with an interference fit. The length of its segment should be equal to several centimeters. Holding the adapter so that it does not come off, carefully pull the cambric over it. Pull the opposite end of the cambric over the standard pump hose.

Step 6

When using the pump, take into account the specifics of its operation in a new quality. If earlier it was required to press the handle or pedal with force, and it was easy to pull it out, now, on the contrary, it is easy to press it, but it has to be pulled out with force. On the foot pump, the spring will still pull the pedal up, but noticeably slower than in normal mode. You may have to pull it forcibly, prying it with one foot, and at the same time pulling on the pump with the other. In doing so, be careful not to fall.
