Among the many problems that motorists have to face, not the least is the excess of the oil level in the engine after it is replaced or topped up. Those who pay attention only to the fact that it does not fall below the minimum value are wrong. Exceeding the maximum level is an unacceptable phenomenon.

Necessary

  • - wrench;
  • - observation pit, overpass or lift;
  • - polyethylene tube;
  • - syringe;
  • - measuring capacity.

Instructions

Step 1

If for any reason the oil level in your car engine exceeds the maximum allowable value, be sure to pump it out. Don't wait, it won't disappear. If you take your time, you may need to change the crankshaft oil seal - not the cheapest type of repair.

Step 2

There are several ways to remove excess oil from the engine. The first way is pretty simple. Drain excess oil through the crankcase drain hole. To do this, place the car on an inspection pit, drive it onto an overpass or lift it with a lift.

Step 3

Allow the engine to cool, otherwise the drained fluid may be too hot and it will be difficult for you to screw the plug.

Step 4

Unscrew the crankcase drain plug using a wrench. Holding it with your hand, pour the oil into a measuring container in a thin stream. After the required amount has been drained, screw on the plug. This method is rather "dirty" and requires a certain skill from the performer. In addition, renting a lift or overpass is not always free.

Step 5

The second method is simpler and more convenient. This procedure is best done on a warm engine. In this case, it is easier to pump out the oil. Remove the dipstick from the crankcase bore. Take a plastic tube from a medical dropper, at least 1m long. Push it into the bend to the maximum depth. Connect the other end of the tube to a syringe that will work like a vacuum pump. Pull the plunger. The oil will rise into the tube and fill the syringe. Disconnect it from the tube. Drain the oil into a prepared container. Repeat.

Step 6

The advantages of this method are obvious. Since the volume of the syringe is known, the amount of oil pumped out is easily determined with milligram precision and there is no need to "catch" the right moment. You can pump out the surplus in any convenient place without spilling a drop.
