Recently, a statement was made from the union of driving schools, which made a proposal to the traffic police, about the need to retake the theoretical part on the rules of the road when replacing driving licenses. This proposal was received ambiguously and raised a lot of questions.
Today, the procedure for replacing a driver's license is simple. It consists in undergoing a medical examination, after which a driver's license is issued for a period of 10 years.
The resolution of the Congress of Driving Schools substantiates its statement by the fact that the rules of the road change over the years, undergo many changes, while the drivers are poorly acquainted with them or do not know them at all.
For this reason, there was a need for re-examination, since the knowledge is no longer the same and there is a need to increase their level. It is necessary to pass only the theoretical part of the exam, which includes 20 questions (in 20 minutes).
Deputy Vyacheslav Lysakov called this proposal economically unjustified. He wondered who will pay for the drivers' re-examination? In his words, our state is not ready for such costs, well, and drivers, all the more, will not want to pay for the crazy ideas of driving schools.
Thus, this proposal, most likely, will not be accepted for execution, and drivers should not worry about the fact that the replacement of rights can become a painful and lengthy procedure.
