Opening frozen locks or doors becomes a common problem for car owners in winter. But you can get into the car yourself, without the involvement of specialists.

It is necessary

  • - lighter;
  • - hot water in a plastic bottle;
  • - defrosting liquid.

Instructions

Step 1

Warm up the key with a lighter or a burning newspaper and periodically insert it into the door lock, gently turning it in one direction or the other. Be careful not to break the key. You can also warm up the lock itself in this way, but there is a danger of spoiling the appearance of your car.

Step 2

Roll your palms into a tube, put them to the lock and blow on it through this tube, trying to open the lock every thirty seconds. You can just start blowing on the lock without using your palms. And here the important thing is how long you will do it, and not how intensively.

Step 3

Use any defrosting liquid: WD-40, alcohol. Insert the thin tube that comes with the spray cans into the lock and inject it. Then insert the key and try to turn. The advantage of using such fluids is that they contain oils that will prevent further freezing of the mechanism. But after you open the lock, lubricate it.

Step 4

If the locks open, the key turns easily, and the buttons for closing the doors went up, but the car does not open, then the door is frozen to the opening. To open it around the perimeter, tap with your fist, gently take the handle and pull it several times. Then tap and pull again. Just be careful, remember that this is your car.

Step 5

If your trunk opens, slam the lid several times. This creates an air cushion in the passenger compartment and squeezes out the doors from the inside. Then tap again around the perimeter and pull the handle.

Step 6

Fill a plastic bottle with hot water and pour it also around the perimeter of the door. You will need several of these bottles. After opening the door, wipe it thoroughly so that no moisture remains on the surface and it does not freeze even more.
