Accelerated wear and tear on wipers caused by improper use. If the installation of new parts is not possible, restore the support frame and replace the rubber elements with new ones. This will restore the wipers to work and give you confidence when driving in bad weather conditions.
Instructions
Step 1
Release the locking grip to remove the replacement rubber band. Rinse the surface of the wipers and treat it with multipurpose grease, type WD-40. If there are any looseness in the hinges, restore them with pliers. If this tool is not at hand, use a hammer.
Step 2
Position the hinge so that its entire plane lies on a firm, level surface. On the other side of the hinge, apply a few light hammer blows to reduce play to a minimum so that the hinge will not interfere with the free movement of the brush arms. These actions will be sufficient if the appearance of the rubber elements is satisfactory.
Step 3
Match the length of the new elastic using the old one as a template. When preparing a new part, leave a small margin of 5-7 millimeters. If necessary, this "tail" can be trimmed after the final assembly of the wiper has been completed.
Step 4
Assemble the new rubber band together with the adapter, securing the structure with tape. Install the elastic into the bearing part of the brush from the locking grip. Clamping it with pliers, continue to insert the rubber element and fix it in the remaining grips. You can also purchase replacement rubber pieces with an adapter, but you will need metal cutting scissors to shorten them. Using old adapters with little wear and tear will avoid this problem.
