Any experienced car enthusiast probably had minor accidents in which the car received minor damage in the form of dents, scratches or cracks. Dents, especially fender dents, are quite common body deformations. It would seem a trifle, but unpleasant, but I don't want to go to a car service for this either. So how do you level the wing surface and remove the dent yourself?

It is necessary

  • -Epoxy car putty;
  • -putty knife;
  • -Automotive paint in the color of your body;
  • - napkin paper or timber;
  • -brush, roller, foam sponge or spray bottle;
  • - a piece of drape or other rough cloth.

Instructions

Step 1

Sand the surface of the dent with emery paper or a diamond block with a fine abrasive. The main thing is to clean the entire surface carefully, without leaving old paint or other finishing marks. Scrape the dent out by grabbing a small area around it. This must be done for even distribution of the putty and good adhesion to the metal.

Step 2

After cleaning the dent, be sure to degrease the treated area. Remove moisture and paint particles trapped in the dent by static electricity.

Step 3

Apply epoxy putty to the surface of the dent, grabbing the area around it. Do not try to "zero" the filler immediately with the wing surface. Firstly, after drying, it will "shrink" a little, and secondly, after drying, you will still need to grind the area to be treated.

Step 4

Wait until the putty is completely dry, keeping exactly the time specified in the instructions for its use. Use a coarse piece of cloth to sand down the surface of the wing where the putty has been applied. You must ensure that the surface is smooth, without bumps and inclusions.

Step 5

Apply paint to the treated area of the wing. How you do this depends on your preference and painting skills. You can use a brush, roller, foam sponge, or paint the repaired area with a spray bottle. Dry the surface to be painted. Car surfaces can be dried either by waiting for natural drying, or by placing the wing in a drying chamber. In the latter case, the alignment process will be significantly accelerated.

Step 6

The method described above for leveling a dent on the wing is not the only one. There is also a way when the dent is squeezed out from the inside.
