Instructions

Step 1

Remove the wheel from the damaged fender. Place a secure support under the jack socket. Then, under the wing, place one suitable block next to the recess for the headlight on the stiffener. Place the other in the back of the wing, that is, on the front shield of the car body.

Step 2

Put the square tube - extension on the jack rack. Then place the jack between the blocks and, working with it in the same way as when lifting a car, stretch the fold, expanding the wing from the inside. The dent will begin to diminish before our eyes, a small gouge will remain only on the lower edge of the wing.

Step 3

While applying support from the front, trim this pothole by tapping lightly with a hammer on the inside of the wing. Do not loosen the jack. Perhaps a small bubble will remain at the decorative embossed line of the wing. To fix it, wrap a piece of wood around a piece of wood, place it exactly under the line, and tap it with a hammer.

Step 4

Remember that if a stiffening rib falls into the straightening area, the alignment should be started from it. Straighten and knock out the stiffener, bringing the line to its original state, then proceed to straighten other sections.

Step 5

As soon as you finish straightening, do not rush to loosen the jack. The fact is that due to the lack of elasticity, the wing can deform again. To avoid this, at the end of the work, pull the jack a couple of clicks, overpowering this elasticity caused by deformation. Then take it off.

Step 6

In the considered case of deformation, the straightening method was hardly used as such: the wing was extended by a jack and slightly corrected at the edge. Pulling will not be enough to compensate for the dent caused by a side impact on the wing. A straightening is required, with the help of which the "excess" metal formed from stretching will be distributed over a large number of tiny bumps.

Step 7

When straightening, remember to start at the edges of the dent and work your way towards the center in a tapering spiral. To determine the area where the dent ends, run a crosswise straightening file over it, and then knock out the wing from the inside using a hammer with a sharp nose.

Step 8

Start leveling the dent after the metal is stretched, that is, when the straightening sheet begins to remove the tops of the bumps over the entire surface. When leveling with a straightening "saw", do not be afraid to pierce the metal with it (the wing thickness is 0.5–0.6 mm). After working with a cloth, level the surface with solder or putty.
