The problem of dealing with noise in a car is quite relevant, since manufacturers of serial cars, especially those of a low price level, are not very concerned about the quality of this issue. Today, the range of noise and vibration insulation materials for cars is quite wide and varied.
The soundproofing of the machine can be done with your own hands. It is only important to know how to do it correctly. As for the direct use of insulating materials, the instructions of the manufacturing plants are quite detailed and understandable. Pay attention to a few practical tips in case you decide to do the work yourself.
Stages of noise insulation
1. Selection and purchase of materials for noise insulation. It is important to pay attention to the fact that there are noise-insulating materials, and there are vibration-insulating ones. This specificity, and, accordingly, the places on the car body where it is advisable to use them, are indicated in the instructions for the product.
2. It is imperative to carry out complete soundproofing of the car (so as not to return to this issue). To do this, you will have to forget about laziness and completely dismantle the interior equipment of the cabin and trunk and, if there are plastic wheel arch liners, remove the latter.
3. Completely remove the factory noise insulation, thoroughly clean the surfaces. How the newly installed coatings will hold depends on the quality of this stage.
4. Carefully read the instructions for use of the materials you purchased.
Features of car soundproofing work
1. This process may take you 1-2 days (depends on practical skills and availability of helpers).
2. The air temperature for this type of work must be at least 18-20 C.
2. When processing curly surfaces, make patterns from thick paper, on which you can further make patterns from the working material.
3. At the installation site, roll the patterns with a roller until the protective film is removed (this will simplify the gluing of the material in the future).
4. It is better to insulate the interior ceiling and floor with one sheet of insulating material.
5. After mounting the material on the part, it is advisable to roll the surface with a roller and squeeze out any air that may have got there from under the insulation.
6. Upon completion of the work, at least 14-16 hours, do not leave the car so that the fixing base of the noise insulation is completely fixed on the body parts of your car.
