The air filter in the cabin of your Nissan should not be cleaned or reused; it should be changed regularly. This procedure is not difficult to perform yourself: it will require very little time and effort, but as a result, you will save on the services of a service station and get fresh air in the interior of your car.

Necessary

  • - new air filter
  • - hex or Phillips screwdriver
  • - flat screwdriver or knife
  • - clean rag
  • - water
  • - marker

Instructions

Step 1

Free access to the filter. In Nissan cars, the cabin air filter is located behind the glove box, simply the glove compartment. If you have a hex screwdriver, then open the glove compartment cover and unscrew the bolts on the microlift mountings. After that, you should find two brackets under the glove compartment, on which it opens, and, turning them about half a turn, remove the glove compartment. If you did not find a hex screwdriver, and you still need to change the cabin filter, you can remove the glove compartment in another way. It attaches to adjacent panels with six screws that can be easily removed with a regular Phillips screwdriver.

Step 2

Remove the filter cover. When you remove the glove box from its niche, you will see the air filter cover. It should be removed simply by pushing on the two small brackets located at the bottom of the cover.

Step 3

Remove the old filter. After removing the cover, you will see a part of the filter, which will need to be pry off with a flat screwdriver or knife and pulled out. The old filter will deform slightly in the process as it is larger than the opening, but don't be concerned about that, you'll have to throw it away anyway.

Step 4

Insert a new filter. Before doing this, wipe the regular area of the filter with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust.

Step 5

Place the lid on the filter and assemble the glove compartment. Reverse the steps that you performed in steps 1 and 2: first replace the filter cover and then secure the glovebox, depending on which method you used to remove it.
