Step 1
Level the dent out, being careful not to bend the surface outward. Put on gloves and clean the body area with a special wiper, with its help remove all dirt, dust, paint residues, polishing paste. Run your palm over the damaged area - this way it is easier to find all minor defects.
Step 2
The putty used for the bodywork does not adhere well to the paint. Therefore, first remove all paint in this area. To do this, you can use a grinding wheel, after which you can go over the panel wipe again, which will effectively remove any remaining dust.
Step 3
Look at the putty label: it can be amateur or professional. Read carefully whether it is suitable for galvanized panels, if any, in your vehicle. Mix filler and hardener in exact proportions using a scale. Prepare the mixture on a metal and plastic surface.
Step 4
Take the hardener with a spatula and place on top of the filler. Squeeze and mix thoroughly to expel air and remove voids. Usually these two components are different colors so you can easily see that they are completely mixed. Remember that everything must be done according to the instructions, because an excess of hardener makes the prepared putty more fragile.
Step 5
Apply the putty to the prepared surface. Spread the composition from top to bottom and outward. Try to make it so that you get an even and smooth layer. You have very little time to correct defects, it is limited to the solidification of the composition. Wait for the putty to dry and apply a developer coat to the area.
Step 6
Sand the surface. If there are visible defects, use filler. Apply it to the surface and wait for it to dry. In the final stages of sanding, it is better to check the smoothness of the surface with the palm of your hand. Then paint the repaired area.
