Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the surface that you are going to putty. Then wipe with white spirit and thinner. The dent or scratch must now be sanded down. Do this so that there are no sharp edges or rust. Don't be afraid to peel off the extra layer.
Step 2
Decide on the choice of filler. There are many varieties, some suitable for deep dents or scratches, others for small ones. Each has its own drying time and shrinkage. Choose the one that best suits your type of damage.
Step 3
Knead the coarse putty together with the hardener, stirring constantly so that no pink deposits remain, which indicates that the hardener is not completely dissolved. Then apply the mixture to the surface with a spatula.
Step 4
Wait about 10-15 minutes and apply a second coat to completely fill the repair area. You may need to take multiple approaches to get the best results.
Step 5
Sand the surface with sandpaper, having previously pasted over the repair area with masking tape to avoid unnecessary scratches. If during the sanding process metal starts to show through, stop rubbing and add putty on this place.
Step 6
Apply a finishing putty with a rubber spatula, which dries quickly and perfectly fills all microcracks, punctures, pores on the surface. Let it dry and then degrease the surface and you can start priming and painting.
